Hari: OM

This is my first endeavour to create a blog. I will probably use this as a forum to capture my thoughts. This blog will help keep an audit trail of the state transitions that my mind undergoes and hopefully help to trace its evolution from the state of utter chaos to that of pure bliss. Yes!, I do harbour high-hopes! This blog will also provide me an opportunity to laugh at myself sometime down the road.

Learned men recommend that we should live in the present. We should neither focus on the future nor the past, just concentrate on the present to the fullest extent possible. Seems to make sense. This simple philosophy should work. If you channelize all your energy in present without carrying any baggage from the past or without fear of the uncertainity of the future, you would be able to maximise your potential and be the best you can be. However, implementing this is extremely difficult. We have been conditioned to leverage on the past. For example, when you sit for an examination, you draw from your preparation and try to recall how you have answered a similar question before in practice. You then try to replicate this response to the present situation to score marks. Therefore, to live in the present, we must unlearn quite a bit of what we have learnt so far. Philosophy can sound extremely eloquent and simple, but its extremely hard to implement in practice. This is what seperate great men from ordinary mortals. One day, hopefully, I should figure out how to live in the present and yet bank on valuble knowledge gained from the past.

Now, why did I name my blog Gajendra-moksha? Mainly because I love the elephant and identify myself with it. They are majestic, big and beautiful and they are vegetarians !

  1. Hi this is a very interesting blog. The place where the Gajendra Moksha took place is Kapisthalam near Kumbakonam/Tanjore in Tamilnadu. Here is the link for the details on that temple. http://rajamala.wordpress.com/2010/10/05/gajendravaradhar-temple-kapisthalam/

    keep up the good work
